Some people may know her as an artist that has blown up over the past few year’s, but really, Ama has been perfecting her craft as a D&B and Jungle DJ for over a decade. Playing shows as far as North America and South Africa, and as big as the BBC Radio 1 Dance Stage at Reading & Leeds Festival, Ama is without doubt a talent on many radars.
Alongside being a wicked selector who draws for everything from soulful liquid to heavy rollers, what makes Ama so special is her positive energy behind the decks. As a raver, when you see a DJ smile and react as much as her, you can’t help but take some of that energy for yourself! It’s infectious.
There’s been no stopping Ama over the last year; after being named as ‘one to watch’ by DJ Mag and being invited by Chase & Status to support them on Boiler Room she closed the Origin stage at Boomtown in front of 20,000 people. Other highlights of the year included another BBC Radio 1 guest mix; this time b2b with Flava D, a show at Wembley Arena supporting Sub Focus and UKF selecting a video of her set from the Glade at Glastonbury as a highlight of festival season. She got to showcase her varied underground selection at Sun & Bass, curate a lineup for the Shogun Sessions 360 and to top the year off, ended it as the only drum & bass and jungle artist nominated for best breakthrough DJ at the DJ Mag Awards!
Aside from her monthly Kool FM radio show and plenty more high profile bookings in places as far away as Mexico, Ama’s been working hard in the studio, focusing on her own productions and also starting some collaborations with other top artists, watch this space!
